Keeping it lean. Redmond proudly recommends Microsoft 365, its solution for those who want to use its Office applications and cloud storage services all packaged into a neat service.
The company is usually found adding new features to the service, regularly adding new options to the various programs and packages that are offered under this umbrella.
Expect in cases where it is not.
This time around, Microsoft has decided to remove some features that has resulted in major changes and limitations to the service.
Changes that certainly are not to impress the user base, particularly impacting folks that make heavy uses of Outlook and OneDrive. Both services will see reduced functionality in certain areas, come next year.
The software titan sent out details about these upcoming changes in an email communique.
Starting November 30, 2023, Microsoft 365 subscribers will no longer be able to associate a new personalized email address with an Outlook.com mailbox. Existing personalized email IDs will continue to function for the foreseeable future, but the ability to add new one will be removed.
And prior to that, on February 2, 2023, Outlook.com attachments will start counting against a user’s OneDrive data cap. However, in order to make these Microsoft is offering some leeway by providing 50 GB of extra storage for one year after this above date.
So, if your OneDrive capacity is close to being full, you might want to delete some unnecessary content from your storage before the deadline.
While these changes are sure to have an impact on customers — the OneDrive revision in particular — at least Redmond has given users ample time to make adjustments before these limitations kick in.
Not fun, though.
