Windows 11 has launched

Windows 11 Announcement

Windows 11 is in the house! After promising that Windows 11 will be officially here on October 5, Microsoft has launched its operating system a day earlier in what may come as a bit of a surprise.

Redmond seems to have changed its mind and has begun rolling out the final bits to users ahead of time on the first day of the week.

What do you know!

Of course, the date is already October 5 in several regions across the globe, but it still is Monday on home turf in the United States. The company does note that the upgrade will start to be delivered to qualifying devices beginning October 4.

Another surprise in an OS that is full of them.

Microsoft, meanwhile, is proper excited about this new arrival, labeling it as the beginning of a new era for the PCs. And in more ways than one, the software titan is right.

Windows 11 is a fresh new start for the world’s most popular desktop operating system.

It not only brings a new coat of paint to the platform in the form of a new user interface, but there are several new apps, capabilities, and features aimed at both casual and power users alike. More than that, the OS lays the groundwork for what might finally be a complete overhaul of old bits still stuck in there.

That might still take a fair bit of time for the company to finally get around to, but at least, the intention is there for this much needed touchup across the OS.

Getting back to the rollout, it is business as usual for Redmond.

The new operating system will be made available to what the company calls eligible new devices first that will be offered to install Windows 11 right away. After gauging the rollout performance through the course of this year and the next, Microsoft will eventually expand availability to more devices.

Dawn of a new era, this!
