100% app compatibility a target for Windows 11

That’s the way I like it! Microsoft is promising full app compatibility in Windows 11, particularly for desktop software and those customized programs that users of old versions of the OS may be running.

You know, organizations still rocking Windows 7.

In theory, there should not be too many Windows 7 devices out there that are eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 11. This, given the fact that the new operating system only supports 8th generation Intel processors and higher.

But in reality, some organizations may indeed be planning to upgrade some of their workstations to the new operating system when it comes out.

And app compatibility remains big concern of these business users. In fact, it is often cited as the prime reason why these companies are reluctant to move to a newer operating system in the first place. Their custom applications could run into problems in a new version of Windows.

To that end, Microsoft has got things covered.

The company says on the Windows 11 for Business site that there is no need to worry about app compatibility when it comes to Windows 11, as it is taking care to ensure that anything and everything that ran on Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 will work on the new OS:

“Microsoft is committed to ensuring your applications work on the latest versions of our software and Windows 11 has been built with compatibility in mind. Our promise states that apps that worked on Windows 7/8.1/10 will work on Windows 11. If you have App Assure, Microsoft will help you fix them at no cost.”

Good to know.

If this is the first time you are hearing about App Assure, this is a Microsoft service available at no additional cost for eligible customers with 150+ seats that helps them resolve application issues that they may experience when deploying the latest versions of the company’s software.
