62% of users don’t even know Windows 11 is coming

Confused Laptop User

The biggest software release of the year is inching closer. Windows 11 is set to launch next week. But as it turns out, not everyone is aware that a new operating system is coming.

Weirder things have happened, but this one is right up there at the top.

With the October 5 launch looming, many in the tech community are excited about the arrival of what looks set to be the latest and greatest version of the OS. However, these are folks that live and breathe the latest in technology.

A sample survey carried out by Savings.com quizzed participants about several aspects of the upcoming operating system, including their Windows 11 upgrade plans and anticipated new features.

And the results, shall we say, are rather interesting.

Savings Windows 11 Upgrade Plans

Among 1,042 adult PC users that participated, around 40% said that they would upgrade, while more than 45% were unsure of what to do. A substantial 14% have clearly decided against upgrading to the next-generation OS altogether.

Interestingly, more than a third of them, 38% in total, said that they are not even sure about which feature they find the most exciting in this new release.

Savings Windows 11 Features

Of those that gave a definitive answer, 14% said that they were looking forward to running Android apps on Windows, while 13% of the participants were most excited about the new gaming related features that Microsoft has baked into Windows 11, like DirectStorage.

Curiously, just 13% were excited about the new appearance of Windows 11, which is a bit of a bummer considering just how much Redmond has focused on the UI of its new OS.

And while many users find the Windows 11 system requirements far too strict and annoying, a solid 11% of the respondents said that they were delighted with the new security additions that Microsoft has defined for its operating platform.

Some rather interesting numbers in this survey right on the dawn of Windows 11.
