Windows 10 22H2 goes official, folks. It was already a certainty before, but with the first preview build of this new version of the operating system now out in the open, things have crystalized.
Microsoft officially flipped the switch on this newest version of Windows 10, making it available for download as a cumulative update for Windows Insiders that are interested in taking this new version out for test drive.
Interestingly, this first build is available in the Release Preview channel.
Incidentally, it is the only channel available for Windows 10 Insiders, as well.
Oddly, no changelog has been provided.
Granted, that may be primarily because all this update provides is an enablement package to change the version from 21H2 to 22H2. There is a slight bump in the build number, obviously, as you go from rocking KB5015684 to this new release that goes by as KB5015878.
Things go from build 19045.1862, which is the version that is publicly available to download from Microsoft to 19045.1865, which the Release Preview build.
What this means is that even if you are not an Insider, you can still upgrade to this new version 22H2 of Windows 10 if you want. All you have to do is download the above enablement package and hop onto the train.
Redmond does make it clear that this build is being offered in the seeker experience. That basically means folks who go and seek this refresh by checking for it. However, being enrolled into the Release Preview channel means that you will get it offered via Windows Update automatically.
