Korean retailer leaks the Surface Laptop Go 2

Surface Laptop Go

June 2022 will bring many things, and one of them seems to be the next Surface device from Microsoft. The sequel to the company’s affordable unit has just been leaked out by a Korean retailer.

The recently published listing claims that Redmond is all ready to launch the Surface Laptop Go 2.

And from the look of things, the machine seems to be an uninspiring refresh of what turned out to be an uninspiring device. He original Surface Laptop was basically a medium-priced laptop with powerful enough specs for daily use. And this next-generation device is more of the same.

Before we get to the details, a look at the listing:

In terms of specifications, the new model will not bring any notable changes to the interior of exterior.

The main highlight of this refresh will be the 11th generation Core i5-1135G7 processor and a slightly upgraded 128GB base storage. The retailer also mentions an improved HD camera, and battery wise we are looking at up to 13.5 hours of use.

A clamshell design will house the same 12.4-inch display, with configurations up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. Microsoft also intends to include a modest number of ports, keeping in mind the frame. These include a USB-A and a USB-C, to go with the 3.5 mm audio jack.

Like all modern Surface machine, the Surface Laptop Go 2 will ship with Windows 11 by default.

Rumors also claim that the company is planning a new Sage color this time around. Unfortunately, there are no signs of a backlit keyboard, while a fingerprint sensor will also be missing from the base model of the device.

The timing of the refresh makes sense here, considering all models and configurations of the original Surface Laptop Go are out of stock on the Microsoft Store.

Redmond is expected to announce the Surface Laptop Go 2 in the coming days, with preorders set to begin June 2. Price tag is estimated at $650, which while good enough for a device carrying the Surface branding, is still on the high end considering the specs.
