The monsters are here! After months of anticipation, NVIDIA has formally announced its new lineup of graphics cards. These new GPUs are from the absolutely monstrous RTX 4000 series.
With equally monstrous pricing to match.
These shiny new graphics cards are from the company’s new Lovelace generation, which it revealed today at the GeForce Beyond special broadcast at GTC 2022. It is named after Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician known for her work with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine.
And it should come as no surprise that these new chips offer a quantum leap for gamers when it comes to performance — think up to twice the performance in regular and up to four times in specific raytraced environments.
These may well be the first gaming cards to hit 100 TFOPs of compute horsepower.
Leading the charge for this new architecture is the GeForce RTX 4090, which also prominently features in this video NVIDIA put together.
Sitting at the heart of this new series, the RTX 4090 utilizes a 4nm process node to pack in an insane 76 billion transistors. With a whopping 16,384 CUDA cores and 24GB of GDDR6X memory, this GPU sips more than 450 watts of power and promises to deliver buttery smooth graphics.
And as you might expect, the price tag of this monster of a GPU is equally monstrous at $1,599.
It wasn’t just the RTX 4090 that got the first reveal at the event, as NVIDIA also took the wraps off of a couple of GeForce RTX 4080s. In a bold move, the company announced an RTX 4080 with 16GB and a lower tiered RTX 4080 with 12GB of memory.
These second and third tier cards will launch after the RTX 4090 and will be priced at $1,199 and $899 respectively.
