It sure seems like the next version of Windows 11 will be here in a little over a month. Known as Windows 11 22H2, this is first major update for the operating system that launched in October of 2021.
And bang on target, the anniversary update should be here a couple of weeks before the anniversary.
New rumors solidify the previous ones that Microsoft has almost finalized work on Windows 11 22H2. This version has been in development under the codename Sun Valley 2.
Last we heard, the RTM version had already crystalized.
Redmond has confirmed a while back that build 22621 was the one picked as the RTM build. But the company kept the launch date for production devices close to heart. This led to guesstimates that the new version would take flight sometimes in September.
Now we know when.
As reported by both Windows Central and The Verge, sources seem to confirm the September 20 release date for this new version.
This will, obviously, only be start of the staged rollout. The first wave of devices will get access to the final bits on this date. Seekers will most likely be the first ones to get it via Windows Update, with the company accelerating the rollout after it gathers the necessary feedback.
Pretty much the same strategy that has been in place for previous versions and updates of Windows.
At this point in time, the September 20 date is neither confirmed nor official. So, take it with the usual pinch of salt that goes with release windows like this.
