Guess this clears it up! A new report is claiming that Microsoft aims to launch Windows 11 22H2, the first update for its new operating system, sometimes in late September.
The report comes via The Verge, who seem to have the immediate Microsoft plans on good authority.
According to the unnamed sources, the Ignite 2022 conference will take place soon after the official launch and rollout of Windows 11 version 22H2. The end of September should see Redmond launching this first major update for the OS, before moving to an in-person Ignite event a month later.
Ignite 2022 is set to take place on home ground in Seattle, from October 12 to 14.
Getting back to the operating system, though, it appears that everything is coming along nicely for the newest member of the Windows family.
As Windows 11 approaches its first birthday, teams behind the walls of Redmond are busy preparing the first major refresh for the operating system. This release is codenamed Sun Valley 2, and brings along a sublime mix of new features and overall improvements.
This particular release is currently in the Release Preview channel of the Windows Insider Program, with the army of testers taking it for a test drive to iron out any bugs and issues.
Last we heard, build 22621 is said to be the final RTM version of this major update.
Microsoft clearly wants to get it into the hands of the user base as early as it can so that it can shift attention to the next major release, codenamed Sun Valley 3, which by the looks of things is set to bring an even bigger range of enhancement.
That is, unless Microsoft has a change of heart, and alters its plans altogether, for some reason.
In any case, the next few months are sure to be busy for the company, as it gathers momentum to close out the year strong. Not just in terms of software and operating system releases, but also hardware and services.
September it is, then!
