Time to put some spotlight on a new Windows 11 build that just landed in the Release Preview channel. Windows 11 build 22000.706 has landed as KB5014019 a few moments ago.

And it brings with it an array of fixes and improvements.

The official release notes are available here, and they talk about everything from fixes for Direct3D that has been responsible for crashing apps on some systems to improvements related to Family Safety verification and more.

But the main highlight is the new Windows Spotlight feature that has made its way from the 22H2 Beta channel development to the current 21H2 release. A welcome promotion for a feature that was destined to arrive later this year.

Windows Spotlight is a fan favorite feature that brings a daily dose of background pictures straight to your computer. This option already exists for the lock screen where new pictures automatically appear alongside more information about the background photo.

With this new addition, these images will now automatically appear as your desktop background.

The second new feature is the Family Safety verification experience for a child account when you send a request for additional screen time.

In total, there are 32 changes in this release the details of which you can glean from the announcement post. Save for the 2 new additions detailed above, the remaining 30 are all fixes for the issues testers have reported to the software titan.

No known issues, obviously, in this release.

Windows Insiders should be able to download the update through Windows Update.
