Windows 11 version 22H2 comes with 35 apps preinstalled

Using Windows Laptop

Microsoft is currently busy finalizing Windows 11 version 22H2, the first major update for its latest operating system. Everything seems to be going according to plan for the company.

For the time being, nobody knows exactly when the rollout will begin.

But since the final RTM version is pretty much finalized, a fair fraction of the user base has been able to get a taste of this upcoming update early. And this has also offered us some insights into what this new update brings to the table.

The folks over at Deskmoddder conducted a little analysis of the preinstalled apps in this version of the operating system and had some interesting intelligence to report.

For starters, Windows 11 22H2 comes with no less than 35 apps that come in the box.

In other words, when you install this latest version of the OS, these are the applications that will be deployed on your system. And this is without counting Microsoft Edge, the installed language packs, and the C++ runtime environment.

The good thing is that removing these bundled applications is easy — most of them, at least.

Simply right-clicking icon of a given app and then selecting the option to uninstall it works for the majority of these preinstalled applications.

However, there are some apps that require additional steps before complete removal. According to the report, there are 9 applications that necessity turning to solutions like PowerShell for their removal. That is to say that while these can be removed, the process may be a bit more complex for most users.

But the important thing is that almost all of these preinstalled applications can be removed, in case you would rather not see them on your system.

Windows 11 version 22H2 is expected to launch in the second half of the year, possibly in September. Until then, Microsoft will continue to polish and optimize the experience with cumulative updates and additional refinements that will be rolled out for this final RTM build.

Good stuff.
